Java Notes

Abstract

Java Notes is a platform independent multi- user calendar. It is possible to synchronize the dates of a work group, in a form, that they aren't overlapping. The following functionality is provided:

  • Day-, week- and month view
  • Normal dates  and periodic dates (daily, weekly and monthly)
  • Public and private dates
  • View a calendar from other users (only public dates are readable)
  • Search an available date for a group of persons
  • Notify new dates

The calendar database is located central on a server. You can start the client as an applet or an application. Additionally, it is possible to use Java Notes standalone on a personal computer without using a server.
To run  Java Notes you need a java virtual machine version 1.1.3 or higher. I've tested it with  Solaris, Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. To run it as an applet you need the Netscape Communicator 4.03 or 4.04 with the latest JDK 1.1 patch , I didn't test it with IE.
